IoT Cloud Platforms in 2026 — AWS IoT Core / Azure IoT Hub / Particle / Arduino Cloud / ThingsBoard / Balena / Magistrala (Mainflux) Deep-Dive Comparison

The 2026 map of IoT cloud platforms is completely different from 2018. Google shut down Cloud IoT Core in August 2023, and IBM Watson IoT followed in August 2024. Among the hyperscalers, only AWS IoT Core (+Greengrass+Device Defender+SiteWise) and Azure IoT Hub (+Edge+Sphere) remain. In the managed segment, Particle has cornered cellular IoT, Arduino Cloud lowered the entry barrier with IoT Cloud Editor, and Adafruit IO / Blynk own the maker market. In open source, ThingsBoard delivers a full stack, Balena (formerly resin.io) leads Docker-based fleet management, and Mainflux rebranded itself as Magistrala. In enterprise IoT, Bosch IoT Suite and Schneider EcoStruxure own industrial domains. Edge runtimes have narrowed to Azure IoT Edge, AWS Greengrass, Open Horizon (LF), and KubeEdge (CNCF). MQTT 5.0 settled as the protocol standard, while CoAP, AMQP, OPC UA, LoRaWAN, and Sigfox each survive in their own niches. In Korea and Japan, Samsung SmartThings, LG ThinQ, KT IoT, Sony Edge AI, NEC, Hitachi Lumada, and NTT Communications hold the center of their home markets. This article breaks 18 platforms down on the same axes and walks through honest decision trees for four scenarios: DIY, startup, enterprise, and cellular.

残ったハイパースケーラーはAWS IoT Core(+Greengrass+Device Defender+SiteWise)とAzure IoT Hub(+Edge+Sphere)の2社のみ。

남은 빅 클라우드는 AWS IoT Core(+Greengrass+Device Defender+SiteWise)와 Azure IoT Hub(+Edge+Sphere) 둘뿐이다.
